Intro to Collision Repair Series - The base package of the PDP-EE includes a new “Intro to Collision Repair Series” which consists of 14 one-hour online courses. The Intro Series was designed to prepare entry-level students with the basic knowledge they need to be successful in future collision repair training. It is available as an online delivery with no printed textbooks to purchase or print.

The 14 modules included provide a basic overview with lessons on: personal safety, vehicle construction materials, vehicle parts terminology, safety systems, tools, equipment, attachment methods, industry repair terms, systems terminology, vehicle protection, refinishing, and corrosion protection.

Professional Development Program – Education Edition (PDP-EE) -The base PDP-EE program not only includes the Intro to Collision Repair Series, but it also contains 15 courses separated into Non-Structural Technician and Refinish Technician roles. Upon successful completion of the base PDP-EE, graduates will be credentialed as both a Non-Structural ProLevel 1 technician and as a Refinishing ProLevel 1 technician! The training in this program is exactly the same that a working technician in a repair shop takes, creating a standard level of knowledge that shop owners and managers can depend on.

Enhanced Curriculum – The I-CAR Enhanced Curriculum provides student training for 59 topics related to collision repair. Unlike the new PDP-EE curriculum, the Enhanced Curriculum focuses on general studies of many topics rather than specialized training for a student’s declared role. Upon completion of the Enhanced Curriculum program, students will have a broad overview of collision repair to help them determine which role(s) they will specialize in once they enter the industry. While ProLevel credentials are not automatically awarded upon completion of the Enhanced Curriculum program, I-CAR Equivalency Tests are available for students wishing to pursue ProLevel credentials.

The Enhanced Curriculum is ideal for NATEF accredited schools as it meets or exceeds all NATEF program requirements. A NATEF crosswalk is included with the curriculum package, making it simple for instructors to document NATEF compliance.

The Enhanced Curriculum is available through a license subscription that is renewed annually. The subscription includes annual content updates, and an online Instructor Support Site with numerous teaching tools including student quizzes, activities and worksheets.

Differences Between PDP-EE and Enhanced Curriculum

BREADTH VERSUS DEPTH:

The Enhanced Curriculum was created in 2001, has annual updates to some of the included course materials, and is tailored to meet NATEF requirements. The PDP-EE was created in 2012 is tailored to meet ProLevel® credentialing requirements.

The Enhanced Curriculum consists of 59 different courses covering a variety of topics. The PDP-EE contains 15 courses, and is designed to give budding technicians specific training in two roles with ProLevel 1 credentialing.

The PDP-EE also contains more shop time recommendations to assist the student in sharpening their skills and techniques that they learn in class, so they have the necessary knowledge and skills to use the first day on the job! The three primary differences are specialization, credentialing, and more hands-on shop exercises that are more engaging for both student and instructor.
