Description
Investigates accidents using police and other reports to determine facts of loss and liability. Communicates with customer throughout claims process. Documents all claim activity on computerized claims systems. Works with auto physical damage appraisers and independent appraisers to negotiate damage settlements. Follows company claims processes to insure a fair and accurate settlement, customer satisfaction, and cost management.

Needs to manage relationships in a fast paced environment and work under pressure. Must communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other industry inter-industry segments. Must be comfortable working in an office, communicating by phone, and working with detailed reports. Needs writing, negotiating, and organization skills. Must be able to develop and maintain ethical standards and business relationships.

Pre-Employment Education and Experience
Math, reading, and computer skills are necessary to understand claims processes and use computer software. A four-year college degree is required. Bilingual skills are a plus.
Earnings
Depending on location and pay plan, earnings may start between $30,000 and $40,000. Experienced adjusters can easily surpass $75,000 yearly. Benefits may include insurance and pension plans.
